Lately, I've decided to dye my hair. Yes, I was a bit tired of henna. I wanted to switch to a beautiful, non-chemical color. A color that aligns with my principles (yes, I wear organic lingerie, so why shouldn't my hair be organic too!).
Luckily, I only have 4 gray hairs (yes, it's true, I really only have 4) so organic color is good for me.
At least, that's what I thought.
I could have done it myself, but since I'm lazy, I preferred to go to the hairdresser. And it worked out well because an exclusively organic hair salon had opened in Saint-Etienne.
So I went for a Logona color, the only one, according to the hairdresser, that is organic and actually dyes hair.
Logona guarantees 100% plant-based dyes, a semi-permanent color, that contains no synthetic dyes, no synthetic preservatives, no peroxide, no ammonia, or other chemical substances. And what's more, it is certified "controlled natural cosmetics" based on the BDIH specifications. So you really know what you're putting on your head!
I'm more of a light brown, so to see a result, I opted for an auburn/mahogany.
Actually, it's like henna; it's a powder that you have to dilute in boiling water.
Even if you do the color yourself or go to the hairdresser, know that it's going to take a long time, like extremely long. Shampoo, mask to prepare the color, color application, and development time of 1 hour if you're under a heated hood, otherwise 2 hours. Yes, it's super long!!
And then another treatment, but no shampoo.
I must say that I was pretty happy to do an organic dye, but in the end, I was very disappointed. First, the color was barely noticeable; we could only see faint reflections. What a bummer, all that time wasted! And above all, the big disappointment is that it made my hair greasy. Just like a chemical dye. It was horrible.
I didn't even take a picture because my hair looked so bad. The solution I found to remedy this problem was to use henna. And since then, my hair has been much silkier and more colorful!
Moreover, Logona colors are recommended for people with almost no gray hair, because the hairdresser explained to me that if you apply auburn to gray hair, you end up with orange hair. Nice. So in fact, when I'm old (and that's coming quickly), the only solution available to me will be chemical dyes!
And what about you, have you tried organic dye?
