France tackles ultra fast fashion to protect the environment and encourage more sustainable fashion.
On June 29, 2026, the Senate definitively adopted a bill aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the textile industry. Excellent news for all who wish to consume fashion more responsibly.
What is ultra fast fashion?
Ultra fast fashion is based on a model of overconsumption: thousands of new garments put on the market at very low prices, constantly renewed collections, and products often designed to be quickly replaced.
This model has a significant cost for the environment: overproduction, textile waste, CO₂ emissions, and pressure on the European textile industry.
What the new law provides
The law introduces several strong measures:
- financial penalties for the most polluting players;
- a ban on advertising for ultra fast fashion brands from 2027;
- greater transparency on the manufacturing locations of clothing;
- better consumer awareness of the environmental impacts of their purchases.
An approach we support at Peau Éthique
We have always advocated for a different vision of fashion: clothes designed to last, made with materials that are more respectful of your skin and the environment.
We believe in a fashion:
🌿 more responsible;
🌿 more transparent;
🌿 more durable.
Every purchase is a choice. By favoring quality clothing designed to last, we all contribute to a textile industry that is more respectful of the planet.
Together, let's continue to consume fashion differently.
