Endometriosis, my love

Share

It's March, so we're going to talk about Endometriosis. Khaira (our intern) and I have prepared some rather tailor-made topics for you. Personally, I'm going to continue this column to talk about my endometriosis.

We're not going to go through the whole story again; various articles are available on the blog, especially this one. This year, everyone has heard about endometriosis because the head of state decided to establish a national strategy to combat endometriosis.

For the recognition of endometriosis in the ALD30 list

So I'm going to try to remain neutral. I won't start with "it was about time!!". However, why not reclassify endometriosis as an ALD? I admit that at first it made me smile, I thought "relax, it's not that serious". And certainly, compared to other diseases, there are indeed worse. Except that it's an expensive disease. MRI overruns never covered, specialists, treatments, etc... I really want to reiterate that it's not "serious", but for some (the most precarious), they can't get treatment.

Personally, when I wanted to have oocyte preservation, I was told to go to Spain. Whereas in France it should have been covered. This option was "taken away" from me. Because in Spain, it has a cost.

So yes, I'm taking my activist card and I'm asking for endometriosis to be recognized as ALD30. When we launched our organic cotton period panties, I was able to talk about the disease, about my daily life. And for once, I feel legitimate in something. We're not doing business around endometriosis. We're simply saying that for every pair of panties sold, we donate €1 to Endomind for research. Because to this day, there is no dedicated fund for this disease. Without private donations, there is no research, yet one in 10 women is affected, which is not insignificant.

I invite you to read Myriam Poulain's opinion piece advocating for endometriosis to be listed as an ALD
