Yves-Saint Laurent launches eco-friendly bag

Share

Ahah, what to think about greening, interest, can luxury and sustainable development mix… these are good questions.
The positive point is that YSL dares to launch an ultra-mini range (yes, 60 bags is still a bit much) of eco-friendly and ethical bags.
Made from recycled plastic and fair trade cotton, this bag is even manufactured in Burkina Faso by a small group of women.
However, it's impossible to find in France; it's only available online and in the US and UK for a price of $1720 (yeah, that costs an arm and a leg)…

Well, it's clear that Yves Saint Laurent isn't going to get into eco-fashion with just 60 pieces. The question is, do they really want to? Do those with real means wonder whether the cotton is fair trade or whether the manufacturing took place in Burkina Faso, or do they simply want that particular bag because there are only 60 of them?
