And that's something I don't understand... in fact, what I can't grasp is the ultimate purpose. What's the goal? Three different examples that serve fashion, blunders, and?
1/ Vogue Italy
In August, the major magazine decided to have its models pose in oil... fashionistas will see it as art or something else... Personally, I only see bad taste, and I might have still missed the photographer's message. But where is it? To rejoice at seeing dying turtles? Completely dead ecosystems? Provocation and sensationalism, in my opinion, are the perfect descriptors!
2/ Golfo Collection
Three Mexican designers, to highlight human greed, decided to create a line of six ceramic and mother-of-pearl pieces marked with a black enamel. The result is quite stunning; you really get the impression that the necklace has just been dipped in an oil slick. The goal is truly sarcastic, but honestly, would we dare to wear them? The ultimate goal of the designers is to raise awareness that we use too much oil. Will things change?

3/ Shoes to support Gulf cleanup efforts
BedStü makes funny shoes, with oil stains so that the subliminal message is clearly understood, but it's not actually oil but dye, and the price is $85. However, the fact that all profits will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation is not to be overlooked. Well, it's ultra-marketed, as a product, in my opinion... but still.
In short, I'd say I don't know what to think... I don't know if we can commercialize this disaster. Any thoughts?
