Is it okay to eat exotic fruits even if they are organic and fair trade?

Share

This is the question I asked myself while enjoying my organic and fair-trade mango straight from Cameroon. As for the carbon footprint, I know, we'll talk about that later.

But sometimes I crave exoticism, what can I say, I have my big flaws, but since I buy organic and fair trade, I tell myself that it kind of makes up for it (doesn't it?), in fact, it's mostly my conscience that feels good about it, because as long as we're doing it, the workers might as well be paid fairly and the products be organic like everything else...

The thing is, these fruits are super good, like pure sugar, but as soon as I put them in my mouth, I feel guilty, thinking about my carbon footprint, and do I really think it's seasonal or, frankly, it's far from local...

Anyway, any thoughts?
