We rarely talk about the environmental impact of clothing, but unfortunately, it exists. And a simple cotton t-shirt would cost the planet €3.20.
How can such a sum be explained, a sum that is sometimes the selling price of certain fast-fashion brands, but I'll be accused of denouncing again... anyway, it's still crazy that some brands even manage to sell it cheaper, but I'm getting off topic.
Water, we know that cotton is very water-intensive (drying up of the Aral Sea...), and drawing from reserves eventually costs energy.
Fertilizers. To produce more in larger quantities of a product that everyone wears, we use fertilizers (and GMOs, but that's... anyway), and does it cost the planet? The answer is yes.
Plus all the energy used along the supply chain (producing a garment requires a lot of energy).
Indeed, for a product sold at a low price, one doesn't imagine that it can also have an environmental cost...
What solutions are available to us? Reduce our environmental footprint! (yes, I know, said like that the answer wasn't obvious), by choosing, for example, products manufactured not far away, organically (like, for example, organic lingerie).
And small streams can become mighty rivers!
(if you want to go further, this is basically taken from a Danish study)
