Did you know? There's gelatin in apple juice. E441
Well, I didn't know that. Like, at all.
So, gelatin is actually used to clarify the juice, because, as you can imagine, once pressed, the juice is cloudy. So, thanks to gelatin, the juice is clear. Q.E.D.
Be careful, it's not necessarily from pork; it can be poultry, beef, or fish. And some brands don't disclose the origin of the gelatin. GREAT. But, without wanting to spoil the mood, it's generally porcine (80% comes from pork rind).
So, first, there's the religious question. You don't eat pork, so you don't drink apple juice?
But you're a vegetarian (yes, I'm lumping everyone together), you can't drink it either?
I find this completely absurd. Of course, if you drink organic fruit juice, you don't have this problem, but still. I don't think gelatin is a super healthy thing either when you see how it's made (I watched a 10-minute report on it, and it completely put me off eating it).
However, we agree that even if the fruit juice wasn't clear, we wouldn't care, right?
