How to properly care for your lingerie?

You've just received your beautiful Peau-Ethique organic cotton lingerie and it's love at first sight! But you're wondering how to care for your lingerie so it lasts as long as possible! Here are 4 tips!

4 tips for proper lingerie care

No sexism here! This article is also for men who do their own laundry :) This only concerns our cotton underwear because we almost exclusively make organic cotton! Discover our cotton underwear for the whole family

1/ Read the labels!

All brands provide washing instructions. And believe us, it's for the good of your organic lingerie :) Avoid the dryer if you don't want to end up with a tiny sock. Also, don't wash too hot to avoid damaging your delicate garments. Don't iron, but do you iron your cotton underwear?

2/ Sort by color!

Accidents happen quickly! Since many people tend to wash whites hotter (60°C), avoid mixing them with, for example, a red pair of panties! If you want to get the most out of your recycled lace lingerie or your women's cotton tights, we recommend a laundry bag. The rest goes in the machine!

3/ Wash!

We assume you machine wash your ethical underwear :) Personally, I use my machine's eco program at 20°C. Indeed, for all your organic underwear, we recommend a gentle wash to avoid damaging the cotton fibers. We forbid the use of a tumble dryer because organic cotton does not have the chemical treatment to prevent shrinkage in the dryer, and you will end up with a rather tight men's boxer shorts, for example :)

4/ Choose your detergent!

Perhaps you're one of those people who make their own detergent, and hats off to you! Soon we'll be offering you a homemade detergent recipe! It's hard to give an opinion, so we recommend the 60 millions de consommateurs test which scrutinizes all detergent brands. Personally, I'm quite surprised that pods are recommended because they pollute less. We're preparing a more in-depth article on this subject, as it's not a point to be overlooked. And above all, ban softeners!
