…Welcome to the sphere of Greenwashing!!
One wonders how a brand that promotes excessive consumption by offering disposable products can focus its communication around ecological arguments!! you had to dare though. Wouldn't electric razors be the more responsible alternative to disposable products that encourage overconsumption?
While this campaign around Ecolutions is not new, "it's still worth the detour"...
Bioplastic…
The answer? Bic gives it to us with its range of green products “Ecolutions”! What does this term mean??? Razors made from “bioplastic” (yes, you understood correctly, as in bioplastic! Let’s not forget that plastic is obtained from petroleum). A small explanation: the latter is derived from a chemical process that transforms glucose into plastic (made from corn which, by the way, is American corn full of pesticides, and perhaps even GMOs !)
Bio-pigments…
The brand has bet everything on the Green wave by changing its visual identity, after the famous orange, it switched to green… a much more marketable argument. And as for color, the brand boasts of using plant-based bio-pigments to obtain this famous green…
Responsible packaging…
The brand uses the responsible argument right down to the promotion of its packaging!
Firstly: the brand is committed to reducing its ecological footprint by reducing the volume of its packaging.
And secondly, the packaging is printed on 100% recycled paper using vegetable ink
And Bic goes even further by not increasing the price of these famous razors, the brand uses the argument "you can consume responsibly and cheaply...". (it would be great if the product was really eco-friendly...)
Successful operation: 10/10 for Greenwashing!
And since April 2010, "Bic invents the recyclable razor"
Since this April, to give itself a clear conscience, the brand has set up a recycling operation (bicrecycle.com) for its disposable products! Mail 10 Bic razors for free and the brand commits to giving them a second life... Good initiative if we ignore the rest...
