Yes, the holidays are fast approaching, and if you're engaged in your daily life, you should be engaged during your holidays too. But me, in summer (not every summer, don't worry) I sometimes have "consumption holidays," meaning hotel-club/pool/sea all in the Maghreb, and that's bad, even very bad... but I try to make amends!
For example, I'm looking into a solidarity trip, but given the prices, unfortunately, that won't be possible this year. However, in my search, I saw a concept emerging: luxury-ethical travel.
Yes, it's crazy, as if luxury could be ethical, because usually it's consumed by people who don't have it... anyway, we're not going to debate that!
So, the concept of Luxethica charmed me nonetheless, because if people have money, why not have the expense of a trip fund projects rather than enrich the tour operator?
As you've understood, Luxethica is aimed at a category that has money, but since dreams are priceless... let's dream!
My favorite: Fundu Lagoon in Tanzania
The most ethical: The owners of Fundu Lagoon actively support the 6 villages of the Wambaa community: construction of a well and a primary school, establishment of a women's cooperative to produce vegetables for the lodge, medical monitoring of children, and fundraising to treat certain cases.
Of course, I haven't tested it, but if someone wants to invite me or if (the dream!) a magazine wants to do an article about it and is looking for someone to test it, I'd be happy to volunteer!
To conclude, a book on Eco-Lodges has been released, but I haven't read it (but if the publisher wanted to send me a copy, I'd be delighted, or at worst, if someone has read it and wants to lend it to me...), which proves that responsible tourism has a bright future ahead!
