I have to tell you that I've been trolled quite violently because, I say it and I repeat it, but LONG LIVE BRAS. Do I say it because I sell them? No. Is it because I've loved lingerie for a number of years? Yes, undoubtedly. Am I fed up with people who have no scientific value trying to make us believe that wearing a bra = CANCER? Yes, and doubly so.
So, here it is, I'm going to start with this, because I think I'm literally about to explode. And when I say explode, it's not a figure of speech or a euphemism. I work in lingerie, maybe I'm biased. I work in cotton lingerie, my point of view is different.
You see, before I was a normal girl who, like everyone else, had blinkers on her eyes. You know breast cancer, I know it, but from a distance. Friends' mothers, your grandmother's sisters. That's all. (I'm crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, and saying a prayer that it spares us). So, I didn't really know. And you work in lingerie, so you talk about breasts, so you talk about intimate matters.
So I was told about CANCER.
At 23, I took a slap, and then several, until today I can see scars without flinching, same for prostheses. I can talk on the phone for 20 minutes with a lady who is about to start her radiation therapy (while I don't know it, I even manage to make jokes about it without sounding crazy).
These women, I have at least one on the phone every day who has breast cancer (I'm not talking about emails, which sometimes make me want to cry and go hug my mom very tight). And they are looking for a cotton bra (because for radiation, you need to wear cotton). None of them told me, yes, you understand it's because of the bra... On the contrary, their doctors (SPECIALISTS) tell them that now they need to stop underwires, lace, and synthetics and switch to cotton. Because the breast needs that. It's not me saying it, I'm not a doctor.
The most basic and unfortunately most sold item for radiation...

SO STOP THE BULLSHIT. You don't get cancer because you wear bras. There are scientific studies that say so. The underwire, at a push, I'm willing to make an effort and imagine conceiving a bit that the friction of the iron or plastic can cause some problems BUT there are wireless bras.
So, at some point, there's really enough misinformation. And giving credit to people who misinform just makes me want to vomit.
If you don't want to wear a bra because you feel better without one, that's your choice. If you believe (And that really makes me LOL) that your breasts will lift because you don't wear one, that's your choice too... But to say, when you are neither a scientist nor anything else, that bra = cancer, really STOP.
So there you have it, Ladies, you who are fighting breast cancer, I don't know what it's like, sincerely, I hear, I listen, I often watch... Don't feel guilty about anything.
(Otherwise, if you wish to testify or anything else, I'm open to that too)
