It’s a beautiful novel, it’s a beautiful story,
that of Camille, 26, and Marc, 28, who set themselves a challenge:
to follow their dreams by cycling around the world! And when will the dream become a reality? Early
January 2011, departure from Paris heading East…
It is the desire to discover the world… with their own eyes (and not those of the media!) and their own ears (and not those of communication tools!). … that led them to embark on this adventure… thus the Pedal Caravan project was born!
“All the same, all different,” this is how they define their desire to meet, exchange, and discover the multitude of cultures from the 4 corners of the world!
It is by pedaling that they wish to see for themselves what man is doing to the planet; to observe climate change, to discover new horizons, landscapes they never imagined… Cycling proved to be the ecological means of transport that matched what they were looking for and, above all, a means of locomotion allowing them to appreciate things without going faster than the music (because I'm telling you about the sore muscles at the end of the days)! We are so much in a society where you always have to go at 1000 miles an hour… So I take my hat off to Camille and Marc, who are going to take a break for a year and realize a common dream!
And these big-hearted lovebirds
will take children in their caravan! Yes, they will
correspond with a school Fernand Léger de Malakoff throughout
their journey! I think this initiative is really good because what
could be better than a human experience for learning (geography, culture…)
in a more playful and much more concrete way than those theoretical books
that bored us so much (am I lying?)!
They have already planned to share this cycling world tour with us by writing a book for 8-12 year olds, creating a kind of travel diary filled with photos of anecdotes, memories with all the children they met…
And we too can get moving (without pedaling!) because La Caravane à Pédales is looking for partners to financially support them and help them see this wonderful adventure through! They are willing to test equipment, participate in ecological and educational projects, they can help you develop a positive image…
The good news is that we
will also be able to join the caravan by following them on their website www.lacaravaneapedales.com which they will update
as they cover kilometers and which they have even already started while
“waiting for the departure!!!…
