Here's a game that deserves to be praised... because it's about fair trade, as you might guess. Yes, but not in our sector, of course, but in the food sector.
“You will have depended on more than half the world this morning before you finished your breakfast.”
(Martin Luther King Jr)
A wonderful thought, isn't it? No, in
reality, it's a very depressing and sad thought, when we realize
that the people who produced our coffee, tea, muesli, sugar,
chocolate, etc., are, due to inequalities between the different actors
in international trade, very probably exploited and oppressed.
This
feeling only intensifies when we discover that these
people are forced to work in dangerous
and unhealthy conditions, that their environment is polluted and destroyed. And that, in order
to survive, their children are forced to work, from a very
young age, 12 hours a day and therefore do not have access to
education that would give them a chance to break free from poverty.
This is roughly the introductory pitch for the game offered on the Fairfood website, where the questions are very interesting and quite easy...
What's more, the first prize is really worth it, it's a trip to Amsterdam... bike enthusiasts or others (tulips...), this game is for you!!
Beyond the quiz, it's always interesting to question sustainable development, fair trade and organic in each sector, in order to be informed and able to change our behavior!
