Saint-Chamond is committed to sustainable development with a great Eco-Habitat project

Is a hint of chauvinism peeking through here? No, no, just pride, because for once we're talking about Saint-Chamond for the good green actions being carried out.
So my town has decided to redevelop the 45 hectares left vacant by the old steelworks (for those who know the Giat site).
But that's great, isn't it? Because a project of such scale can re-create jobs and, above all, revitalize Saint-Chamond...

Yes, but what's more, everything is geared towards green initiatives. To tell you the truth, it was a bit of an urban legend we'd been hearing for a few years that the brownfields would become an eco-district, but we weren't seeing anything happen (and above all, it was just hearsay).
So, what will be on the 45 hectares? 15 are occupied by active businesses, and another 15 will be redeveloped to accommodate SMEs and industries, 7 for housing and commercial construction, and finally a 5-hectare park.
The greenest aspects of this project are the construction of so-called "passive" buildings, the development of green spaces, and the implementation of solar energy (15,000 m2 of panels) and wind energy, as well as heat recovery.

And then it must be said that we are not very well served by public transport, so a tram is underway, and I want to say Woohoo!!

Basically, what makes me happy is that it's not just big cities investing in sustainable development. Want to move to Saint-Chamond now?
