I have to tell you, last week when I saw this information pass by on the Huffington Post US website, I laughed behind my screen. Yes, as if you were ready to see normal girls wearing lingerie without being retouched...
After that little burst of laughter, I started seeing the reactions on Twitter and they were positive. None of the "look at the fat girl, blah blah..." kind. I was SHOCKED... And then the big promotion for this brand continued, they even talked about it on David's 8 PM news. A REAL TRIUMPH.
And then I thought, either I'm living in a parallel world, or people are just hypocrites...
Because we (as a reminder, we sell organic lingerie), we also choose models that look like real women as a policy. Because yes, it's surprising, but today body types have changed and we'll sell more size 40/42 than 36/38 (And size 34 NEVER). Surprising, right? That's just how it is.
And yet, when we took photos for our new collection, a big internal debate started. The photos aren't appealing. They don't make you want to buy. Yet, when you're naked or in a bra and panties, you're not perfect. Personally, I have a little belly, I know it's annoying...
So, we told ourselves that after all, we are women like any other, we accept ourselves, and a woman who accepts herself is also sexy.
EXCEPT THAT...
Except that I received some not-so-nice emails, like "not at all hot," so excuse me, guy, when you buy lingerie, is that the effect it's supposed to have on you?
"I can't relate to this person at all," Oh really, you also wear a 90C, have a flat stomach, and are at least 1.75m tall?
"I didn't know Peau-Ethique was for fat people now!!" FAT PEOPLE!! No, seriously, being a size 38 is being FAT??
I could go on for hours...
That's why I absolutely wanted to change the photos; I hardly put any photos on Facebook or the Header, because the feedback was too harsh... And what do I see? Oh right, no, but yes, that's what's needed, real women wearing lingerie because that's life, right?

I applaud the initiative with both hands, I'm just disgusted that so much visibility is given to this American brand while we get NOTHING (at the same time, we might not have the same financial means as this lingerie brand!!), but hey, that's the game, my poor Lucette!
