Patagonia is an American brand well-known for its sportswear and outdoor clothing (yes, I speak English very well!). Up until now, Patagonia has been one of the pioneers of ethical fashion – and yes, because they started using organic cotton in their clothes in 1996 – and this year, they decided to venture into the world of salmon.
The first range of wild dried salmon, Wild Salmon Jerky, is currently only available in the United States or on the brand's website. A 57g packet costs €12.50.
Patagonia chose to work with Skeena Wild (a Canadian association). Together, they developed the best fishing technique to avoid catching other species (such as trout, for example) in their nets. Processing takes place in Canada (British Columbia) to avoid transportation and carbon emissions. The company is currently working towards zero waste.
Personally, I've never eaten dried salmon, so I don't know what it tastes like. In any case, I buy my salmon organic because after watching a few documentaries about salmon farming, it quickly put me off and strongly encouraged me to choose organic rather than, for example, Label Rouge.
