The Carrotmob is coming to France

But first of all, what is CarrotMob? It's a concept that comes to us from Uncle Sam's country, more precisely San Francisco, launched in 2008 by a former Google employee disappointed with current forms of environmental activism.

In France, two students are calling on Lyon residents and others to participate in an alternative to boycotting. By making purchases at this shop, the store commits to reinvesting a portion of the day's turnover into ecological equipment to reduce its energy consumption.
   
Basically, I'm generally not a big fan of this kind of thing, yes "mass consumption," but the core of the action is good, changing behavior, so in the end, we're going for it.
