Best wishes to all Peau-Ethique blog readers. It's not a very original phrase at this time of year, but at C.A.BIO, we respect traditions!
Even though the holiday season is over, I want to take you back into the Christmas spirit by telling you about Loup... The latest film by Nicolas Vanier*, a "globetrotter" for some, "a traveler of the cold" for others, but unanimously a talented director of films with nature and animals as his favorite subjects (including The Last Trapper in 2004 or the Child of the Snows in 1995, a very beautiful story! I recommend you read it to escape even more!!).
Watching Loup, you literally plunge frozen into the heart of the Great North (more precisely in Eastern Siberia) and its magnificent landscapes... learning about the life of a nomadic Even reindeer herding people! On the program, a touching story between Sergei, son of the leader of the reindeer herd, and a pack of wolves (in short: wolves roam and constantly threaten the reindeer, which are the sole wealth and pride of the Evens... discover the rest!! just, I almost forgot there's also a beautiful love story. In short, the Evens are an authentic people cut off from the world, from capitalism, from our consumer society, living in quasi-autarky... Hard to imagine and yet...
...“They are a people who laugh at everything, constantly. These men have wrinkles of happiness. They end up looking like what they are: happy people. This is one of the meanings of the film. A people who have nothing in the sense that we give to the verb "to have", but who have everything because the Evens are profoundly and simply happy, drunk with freedom.”
1H30 of immersion at the other end of the world at the antipodes of our society with this film, which is also Nature and Eco-friendly!!
I hope I've made you want to go to the cinema to travel beyond the big screen.....
