What if it were true

Share

Here's a top 10 list of statements that aren't jokes, but very real.

1/ What's the point of eating organic? You can't tell the difference anyway! 6

This one is really my favorite. I like these people who are so sure of themselves when they tell you there's zero difference. Are these the same people who buy frozen products and then talk about junk food? (I'm kidding, I'm not generalizing)

2/ Anyway, organic is TOO expensive. 4

Alright. A true statement, because indeed some abuse having the "organic" label. But I pay the same price for my organic eggs as for brand-name eggs in supermarkets. Or my creams are obviously cheaper than major French luxury brands. I think quality has a price, like everything else. But organic isn't TOO expensive.

3/ Anyway, you can't know if GMOs are bad for your health. France authorized them, didn't they? 5

So I've already talked about it here, I can give it another shot. It's true that Professor Seralini's study was criticized, but it's a fact, rats die after ingesting genetically modified corn. But hey, they're just rats, not humans. LOL

4/ You're glad to have electricity at home, so you're for nuclear power. 3

Hahaha, this one, along with "but no, nuclear power doesn't pollute," drives me crazy. (As a reminder, I wrote a short post about it)

First, we can consume clean energy (Enercoop) and we can obviously think about other means of production. And yet we are still producing it (we are even building more). Oh, but because wind turbines make noise (LOL), solar panels are ugly. In short, it always (ALWAYS) ends with "you want coal, don't you?". So tired of it.

5/ Global warming? No, you know, in prehistory there was also an ice melt. 2

Thanks, Claude Allègre. Let's not question our consumption habits. When I think of the book published by the former France 2 weather presenter (I've forgotten his name), I sometimes feel like quitting life. Because at some point, disinformation is a bit too much. Obviously, guilt is useless. But so is disinformation.

6/ No, but wait, you don't eat Nutella? You're a bit of an extremist. 2

I don't eat it anymore, yes, although I confess I like it. I really like that taste. But I stopped eating it about 4 years ago, I think. No more jars at home. Why? Because of palm oil. I also stopped eating KitKats after being traumatized by this ad.

7/ You're the type of person who has a "no junk mail" sign on your mailbox. 1

Yes. Because I have to tell you that I used to receive ads that I would throw away directly, I never even looked at them. Although I sort my waste, it annoyed me quite a lot to throw away at least 10 ads per week. And the "no junk mail" sign is ideal. Plus, let's be honest, it's often printed on non-recycled paper with undoubtedly somewhat nasty inks.

8/ Wait, but you wear nail polish? 2

Yes. Surprising, right? Because, believe it or not, organic nail polish exists. Yes, I know it's surprising, and yet it lasts almost even longer than traditional ones, the colors are beautiful, and above all, it's not more expensive. My favorite brand is Avril (I'm actually typing this post with painted nails)

9/ No, but you organic people are a bit crazy about periods. Blood_drop

Well, I confess I had a good laugh writing this article on flow control. But we know there are GMOs in tampons, and personally, I don't want to poison myself. So yes, I'm trying the cup; I've had a draft post about it for months, but I'm a bit scared to publish it. Between us, I don't really like it much. But between GMOs and the cup, I force myself to choose the cup.

and 10/ So, happy to help DAESH by producing organic cotton from Turkey? 1

I'll conclude with this one because it's really my favorite phrase of the moment. I have absolutely nothing to say in response to it. I adore Turkey; it's truly one of my favorite countries. I can't understand how people can associate terrorism with organic cotton. But oh well...

(Obviously, I've heard all these phrases, and obviously they weren't said on April 1st, that would have been too easy)
