Her – Plus Sizes…

Share

So, for once, I actually rushed to the newsstand to buy the magazine, partly because of the incredible buzz (a size 48 model on the cover) and also because it's not every day that a women's magazine doesn't talk about dieting :)

Yes, it really had everything to please me, first an interview with Robert Pattinson (Edward from the Twilight saga) but above all the main feature, plus-size women and fashion! But this feature starts on page 96!!
What disturbed me the most, deep down, was the retouching, because I, who am far from model size, have cellulite on my thighs... and there was none there!! Nevertheless, the photos are superb... and deep down, there's even an air of lightness! So what can I say... that it's great for once to highlight a plus-size model, but is it just a one-off, or will fashion finally take an interest in girls who are larger than a size 42!! A big question...

The big problem for plus-size women, in the end, is that ethical fashion doesn't cater to larger sizes! I, who wear a size 42/44, can't dress entirely in organic and fair trade... because some brands stop at size 42 (or 40)!! It's true that often when we're at trade shows, customers tell me "but you only go up to size 46?". So we still tried to make full-cup bras  for plus-size women (where we go up to 100 E), because until then we stopped at 95 D. So because I also want to wear Peau-Ethique bras again, I insisted a little!! Another policy, which we are often criticized for, is the choice of models with curves!! And yes, you won't see a "rib" here (no offense to Karl L.)

However, we are facing a question: size 46 is a very large size for boutiques, some only go up to 42 or even 44! Yet I think there is a demand for larger sizes... but if boutiques don't stock them, neither people with generous curves will bother to look for this type of product, nor will we manufacture larger sizes...
Another example, and I will conclude on this, few boutiques order full-cup bras, even though we sell a lot of them at trade shows!! So awareness must first come from fashion professionals!
